At NOPINZ, Daffern's specialised in creating bespoke cycling kit designs for clients around the world. Their role involved working closely with individuals, teams and clubs, designing everything from one-off custom pieces to complete club shops featuring more than fifty coordinated items. They designed kits for Olympians and Tour de France riders as well as everyday cyclists who wanted something unique and personal.
The work ranged from replicating existing designs for clients seeking a new supplier to developing entirely original concepts. Each project was highly collaborative, often involving weeks or even months of refinement, colour matching, test prints and sometimes test sewing to ensure the highest quality results. Once a design was finalised, they would adapt it seamlessly across a full product range.
This bespoke service consistently received excellent feedback from clients, reflected in NOPINZ’s strong Trustpilot reviews, and allowed Daffern to combine creativity with precision to deliver cycling apparel tailored to each client’s vision.

Design Brief – Custom Skinsuit for Daniel
A bold, vibrant skinsuit design centered around dynamic, cell- shaded dinosaurs, taking inspiration from the colourful, energetic style of Manic Minotaur’s "Stormtrooper" illustration. This artwork will be adapted for both Gravel and RR suits.
The jersey will feature an explosion of colourful dinosaur characters, capturing a sense of movement, playfulness, and energy. The shorts will remain primarily black with minimal white detailing, creating a sleek contrast to the vivid top. A small scene from the Google Chrome offline dinosaur game at the bottom of the legs. On the lower back, the word "ORGANISM" will be printed in all caps using SF Pro Display Bold font for a clean, modern statement. The sponsor logo “Organ Donor” will be placed thoughtfully on the sides near the hips, aligned with the Gravel suit pocket seams for both aesthetic and functional balance.
The final deliverables should be fully production-ready, including adaptations tailored to both Gravel and RR suit formats.
After collaborating with a customer to design and finalise their artwork, they transferred the prints, sponsor logos, and text onto the product templates. They ensured all logos and icons were positioned correctly so they remained clear and visible when the kit was worn, making them effective for both spectators and photography. They also paid close attention to aligning detailed prints so that patterns matched seamlessly across panels, including along seams and zippers, resulting in a professional and cohesive finish.

Design Brief – Custom Skinsuit for Malachi
A bold, high-impact skinsuit that blends vivid colour with tattoo inspired artwork and personal storytelling. The top half will feature a lighter-than-Cadbury’s purple fade, paired with plain black shorts for a strong, graphic contrast.
Hot pink tattoo patchwork-style drawings will overlay the purple background, with key elements placed intentionally: a plaster on the right hip, a syringe on the bum cheek, “Catch me if you can” across the shoulder, and a “My name is Malachi” badge on the chest. Additional artwork will fill the space to create a cohesive, energetic look. The black shorts will continue the hot pink tattoo design to maintain a seamless flow.
Sponsor logos — Club Coalition Coaching, Outlaw Triathlon, Full Circle Funerals, Physio Space, and Absolute Speed — will be added to the front and back, integrated cleanly without overpowering the design.
The final suit should feel rebellious, vibrant, and distinctly personal, while still polished and production-ready.
For Malachi’s custom kit design, the designer replicated his tattoos by redrawing them as precise vector artwork in Adobe Illustrator. This made it possible to position the designs on the cycling kit in the same locations as they appear on his body. Once the tattoo artwork was complete, additional text, imagery, and sponsor logos were incorporated into the layout. Careful attention was given to ensuring that the artwork not only aligned with Malachi’s tattoo placements but also worked seamlessly within the kit templates. After refinements, the final artwork was applied across the full templates, achieving both accuracy and a cohesive overall design.
